Hi-tech Case Study

Multinational bank Barclays needed to install 2400 SFP clips into cabinets.
It had estimated that this job would take one engineer up to 200 hours. The Lupprians Technical team set to the urgent task and completed the job in just 12 hours, saving Barclays a significant amount of money and downtime.
BT Ipswich -required the collection of two populated triple-bay Symmetrix data storage cabinets and relocation of two fully populated single-bay cabs.
Lupprians first surveyed both sites to determine the site requirements from both a physical handling and health and safety point of a view. The completed method statement and risk assessment was swiftly returned to our customer for validation.
The survey identified the need to erect a 2.5m scaffold tower and hire a 25-tonne crane to lift the triple-bay Symmetrix from its first floor location to ground level. It was deemed a complex job, but one that Lupprians was more than capable of, given the nature of their core business and expertise.
The next step was for the Lupprians project co-ordinator to review the method statement with the surveyor. The Lupprians Project Manager liaised directly with providers of all necessary services and equipment, such as the scaffolding and the crane, to ensure that everything was in place and on time as required. When ready,
Lupprians technical crew walked the removal route to ensure there were no further hazards or restrictions other than those noted within the initial method statement.
Once everything was in place and ready, including appropriate floor protection, - the Lupprians team of four specialists, wheeled the triple-bay system from the data room to its new location. The Lupprians slinger/banksman then attached two lifting slings and spreader bars for lifting. The unit was slowly lifted by the crane and positioned directly into the back of Lupprians' air-suspended vehicle through the opened sliding roof system. The two single-bay cabinets were also removed using the same method. The systems were then carefully secured to the truck using adequate protection and the trucks load-securing systems, for safe transportation on air-suspension.
At the end of the project the crane departed, the scaffolding was dismantled and the team proceeded with the collection of the remaining triple bay system from ground level.
